Frequently asked member questions
eMed GLP-1 Weight Management Program
The Point32Health Weight Management Program, administered by eMed, provides eligible members and their covered dependents with clinical support for weight management. Depending on your individual clinical assessment, the program may include at-home testing, access to a clinician, an appropriate prescription, medication delivery through eMed’s partner mail-order pharmacy, and ongoing monitoring.
You must be between ages 18 and 85 and enrolled in a Point32Health employer-sponsored medical plan. You must also meet the program’s clinical eligibility requirements, which are based on applicable FDA-approved indications, your medical history, laboratory results, and an individualized review by a clinician. General eligibility guidelines include:
- A body mass index (BMI) of 30 or greater; or
- A BMI of 27 or greater with at least one weight-related health condition, such as high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol levels, obstructive sleep apnea, cardiovascular disease, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease/non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, or coronary artery disease.
Note: If you have taken a GLP-1 medication within the two months before enrolling, BMI will not be a factor considered when evaluating your clinical eligibility.
- Starting December 1, 2026, register in the eMed app and indicate that you are currently taking a GLP-1 medication.
- Upload your current prescription so eMed’s clinical team can consider it during your eligibility review.
- Complete the at-home testing kit. eMed will ship the kit by FedEx two-day shipping, and the kit will include the blood collection device, required materials, and a prepaid return package.
- Follow the guided at-home collection process and return your sample to eMed’s contracted laboratory partner.
- Allow approximately two weeks from kit completion for shipping, laboratory processing, and clinical review.
- Receive your eligibility decision and next-step instructions by email or through the eMed app.
If you are clinically eligible, a clinician will determine the appropriate therapy and may issue a prescription. If you are not clinically eligible, eMed will notify you.
- Register in the eMed app and complete the initial health screening.
- Complete the at-home testing kit using the guided collection process.
- Return your sample in the prepaid FedEx package to eMed’s contracted laboratory partner.
- Allow approximately two weeks from kit completion for shipping, laboratory processing, and clinical review.
- Receive your eligibility decision and next-step instructions by email or through the eMed app.
If you meet the program’s clinical eligibility requirements, a clinician will determine whether a GLP-1 medication is appropriate for you and may issue a prescription. If you are not clinically eligible, eMed will notify you.
If you receive a prescription through the program, the medication will be delivered to your home through eMed’s partner mail-order pharmacy, typically within 1-2 weeks. Ongoing participation includes:
- Weekly check-ins to record your weight and medication dosage;
- A monthly refill questionnaire and clinical review of any changes to your medical history;
- Prescription renewal coordination, when clinically appropriate; and
- Follow-up at-home testing approximately every six months to monitor changes in your health measures.
You may enroll in the program and request to transition your medication to eMed. During enrollment, you will be asked to upload your current prescription. A clinician will review your prescription, medical history, laboratory results, and other relevant clinical information before determining eligibility and the appropriate therapy.
The current FDA-approved GLP-1 medications identified for weight management through the program are Wegovy, including injectable and oral formulations; Zepbound KwikPen; and Foundayo. Medication availability may change based on FDA approval, clinical guidance, and product availability. A clinician will determine which medication, if any, is clinically appropriate for you.
Your cost share will be a $150 copay. Prices may change if the manufacturer’s price changes. A medication’s availability through the program does not necessarily mean it is fully covered. The eMed app accepts standard credit cards, debit cards, and eligible HSA or FSA cards at checkout. Review the checkout details carefully.
GLP-1 is a naturally occurring hormone that helps regulate blood sugar, slows digestion, and signals fullness. GLP-1 medications mimic these effects and may help reduce appetite and support weight loss when clinically appropriate. Effects and side effects vary by medication, dose, and individual. Your clinician can explain the expected benefits, risks, and recommended duration of treatment.
FDA-approved medications have been reviewed for safety, effectiveness, and manufacturing quality. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and do not undergo the same FDA review. eMed does not offer compounded GLP-1 medications, and compounded GLP-1 medications are not covered under this program. Discuss questions about medication safety or treatment options with a licensed clinician.
Use the eMed app for enrollment, testing, clinical-review, prescription, and program-support questions.
